Science
Weather patterns.
Definition
Recurring atmospheric conditions in a region driven by air pressure systems, fronts, and global circulation patterns. High-pressure systems generally bring clear skies, while low-pressure systems bring clouds and precipitation. Fronts mark boundaries between different air masses.
Examples
Real-world.
- 1 Cold fronts pushing through the Midwest, bringing brief intense storms followed by cooler, drier air
- 2 The jet stream steering weather systems across North America from west to east
- 3 Sea breezes forming on coastal areas during the day as land heats faster than water
