Quantum basics.

Definition

Quantum basics covers the fundamental principles of quantum mechanics, where energy comes in discrete packets called quanta and particles exhibit both wave-like and particle-like behavior. At the atomic scale, the exact position and momentum of a particle cannot both be known precisely.

Examples

Real-world.

  • 1 Electrons existing in specific energy levels around an atom, not continuous orbits
  • 2 The photoelectric effect showing light behaves as particles (photons)
  • 3 Electron diffraction demonstrating wave-particle duality
Key Fact

E = hf (energy of a photon = Planck's constant × frequency); Heisenberg uncertainty principle: ΔxΔp ≥ ℏ/2
