Definition
The preterite tense in Spanish is used to describe completed actions in the past. Regular verbs follow predictable patterns: -ar verbs take endings -é, -aste, -ó, -amos, -asteis, -aron, while -er/-ir verbs take -í, -iste, -ió, -imos, -isteis, -ieron.
